Last year’s Brit Insurance Design of the Year Award winner Samuel Wilkinson has just realised this reduced, minimalist side table for Danish furniture manufacturer Versus. Featuring a barely visible, yet functional indentation designed to ‘help frame and organise objects like a magazines, books, keys or a phone’, the visually light ‘Scallop’ is available in two heights.

‘The inspiration for Scallop derives from observations of objects that are grouped on low tables. Each of the variations includes a recessed area to help frame and organise objects like a magazines, books, keys or a phone. This sunken area provides also provides a border to keep smaller objects from falling off onto the floor. The uniquely v-shaped tubular legs give balance and lightness while still complementing the soft edged plateau top. The name Scallop means ‘To edge with a series of curved projections.’
