The Virginia-based leather design studio Moore & Giles has expanded its horizons from only leather to leather and wood. The company’s debut furniture collection, Black Walnut, combines locally-sourced Virginia wood with fine, natural Italian leather to make functional, timeless pieces of furniture.
The collection consists of three pieces – the Walnut Writing Table, the Walnut Perch, and the Walnut Magazine Holder. Each takes an “old-school” approach to leather crafting, as Moore & Giles is used to, and an equally traditional approach to handcrafted furniture.
All pieces of the limited-production collection are made by hand in Lynchburg, Virginia, at their shop, and Moore & Giles takes pride in the fact that its pieces bring back many details that are often lost by manufactured furniture. Since the Italian leather and Virginia wood are untainted before crafting, they both retain details that only nature could create, and the finished pieces are brought to life by these details and the care that goes into every handmade piece.
