The Corniches shelves by French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Vitra provide small storage spaces for keeping everyday items.

The shelves’ do not have a specific function or location, they are designed to be flexible and can be used as anything from a key rack beside the front door to a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries. Ronan Bouroullec explains, “The same way that we hang our belongings on a rock jutting from a cliff before diving into the sea, we need small, informal storage in everyday life too”.

Made of high quality plastic, the Corniches are available in three sizes, small $75, medium $110 and large $125.

Vitra have also introduced a new iPhone app that makes it easier for customers to buy and install the shelving. By using the program and the camera on their mobile phone, customers are able to assess which colors would best suit their home décor style and which sizes would be most appropriate for their space. Once happy with the layout, customers can virtually place accessories on the shelves, then generate a shopping list and find out where the nearest retailer is located. Click here to view in the App Store.
